Amphenol raised its quarterly dividend 20 percent to 15 cents per share on Tuesday. The company also added a new $4 billion stock repurchase program after a record third quarter in which adjusted earnings beat Wall Street expectations. The moves extend one of the industrial sector’s most consistent shareholder payout records.
What happened
The connector and sensor maker reported third quarter results that set company records. Adjusted diluted earnings came in at 80 cents per share, ahead of the 73 cents analysts expected and up sharply from 46 cents a year earlier. Reported diluted earnings were 79 cents per share.
Operating income reached $3.02 billion at a 29.5 percent operating margin. The company guided fourth quarter sales to a range of $10.3 billion to $10.5 billion.
Key numbers from Amphenol’s report
| Metric | Third quarter 2026 |
|---|---|
| Adjusted diluted EPS | $0.80 (consensus $0.73) |
| Reported diluted EPS | $0.79 |
| Operating income | $3.02 billion |
| Operating margin | 29.5 percent |
| Fourth quarter sales guidance | $10.3 billion to $10.5 billion |
| New repurchase program | $4 billion over three years |
The dividend increase in context
The new quarterly payout of 15 cents replaces the prior 12.5 cents. It is payable January 13, 2027 to shareholders of record on December 22. The company said it will finish its existing $2 billion repurchase program by December 31, and the new $4 billion, three-year program takes effect January 1.
For every 1,000 shares owned, the increase adds $25 of income each quarter, lifting annual dividend income on that position from $500 to $600.
How Amphenol compares with this week’s other dividend declarations
| Company | New quarterly dividend | Annualized | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Amphenol (APH) | $0.15 | $0.60 | 20 percent increase announced October 27 |
| Parker Hannifin (PH) | $2.00 | $8.00 | 306th consecutive quarterly dividend |
| Williams (WMB) | $0.525 | $2.10 | 5 percent increase, paid every quarter since 1974 |
| Dominion Energy (D) | $0.6675 | $2.67 | 395th consecutive quarterly dividend |
Parker Hannifin declared its dividend on October 28 and has now raised its payout for 70 consecutive fiscal years, one of the five longest streaks in the S&P 500. Williams and Dominion Energy announced theirs a day earlier.
The dividend timeline investors need to know
Shareholders of record on December 22 receive the new 15 cent dividend on January 13, 2027. The increase applies from that payment forward. Buyers should confirm the record date before assuming the higher payout applies to their shares.
What income investors should watch
Three items matter from here. First, whether fourth quarter sales land inside the guided range. Second, the pace of the $4 billion buyback once it opens in January. Third, the durability of operating margins near 30 percent, a level few industrial companies reach.
Dividend growth in the industrial sector tends to track order books. Amphenol’s record quarter suggests demand held firm through the third quarter across its communications, defense, and industrial markets.
Two common errors are worth avoiding here. Do not buy a stock for a single dividend announcement alone, and do not treat a payout record as protection from business risk. Amphenol’s margins support the increase today, but future dividend growth still depends on continued demand for its connectors, sensors, and cable products.
